Diablo Speedrun Suluths proves its 15-year world record is a fake after the game reversal and fails to replicate the run in 2.2 billion possible random dungeons
First reported by Ars Technica, a group of Diablo Speedrun enthusiasts proved decisively that it has been on a world record for three minutes since 2009. The effort requires reverse engineering Diablo’s map generation system, which has 2.2 billion possible legal output.
The offensive Speedrun uploaded the Speed Demos archive of Maciej “Groobo” Maselewski in March 2009 and featured the end time of 3:12, with an incredible “lucky” wizard running. Any percentage of running is broken down, meaning Grobo can use some of the allowed exploits and save the game and rework a portion for better time, adding these best breakdowns together for final counting. Diablo Mapgen team claims that Grupo’s manipulation of the game is far beyond the scope disclosed or allowed.
Speedrun expert and Tasbot Keeper Allan “Dwangoac” Cecil about Groobo’s good luck, which seems unusual, we will have so many levels upstairs and downstairs. “We want to find some way to copy this. ”
Diablo Mapgen tools are mainly developed to Matthew Petroff on Github, Diablo that requires reverse engineering. It quickly lists the game’s “seed” throughout the dungeon below tristram (including items, exits and Quest Distribution). These seeds are the procedurally generated layouts of a given Diablo game, and when the game starts, the toy’s seed set. Between January 1, 1970 and December 31, 2038, there were 2.2 billion possible legal differences, each of which allocated a second on the system clock, and if Modders didn’t figure this out, it might be Diablo’s mini Y2K.
Although Groboo claims to win by luck and skill alone, the Mapgen tool proves that you can only find some of the very favorable conditions that Diablo encounters on the map outside the valid date range. Legal seeds, although it is unclear how Grobo produced his exact run in 2009. Groobo defended his run, saying “It’s a segment/stitching run. It’s always and never gotten out of the way like anything else, nor is it a part of the competition or rankings.”
But that doesn’t mean the absolute impossible of the dungeon layout he encountered or other violations found in the Grobo run since, such as the ease and speed of his defeat of Diablo or mismatch details that show that he’s from different Different versions of the lens game are drawn in the version. You can read the full analysis from TASBOT debunking the Grobo run. Groobo’s 3:12 was hit by the Speed Demos archive, and its footage is still on YouTube for future generations. Meanwhile, it remains listed as the “fastest completion RPG video game” on Guinness World Records, which has not yet responded to the Diablo Mapgen team or ARS Technica.
“It really hurts,” Dwangoac believes. “Groobo’s alleged cheating in 2009 completely blocked interest in this category. No one has tried it, no one can do it.” Indeed, With the advent of streaming, Grobo’s run might have caused all the air to suck out of the room, exploded in real streaming, and at a critical critical time, the rapid speed of potential Diablo revolves around any percent. The good news is that Diablo Mapgen tools inspired the new “seed” running category, with players purposefully choosing auspicious layouts from 2.2 billion legal seeds.
