Assassin’s Creed Shadow soars by 1 million players on launch

The Assassin’s Creed Shadow finally arrived, and players poured out woodwork on Launch Day to support it. 24 hours after going online, Ubisoft has reported that more than one million players have begun Naoe and Yasuke’s adventures.

It’s an impressive turnout; perhaps those who try to cause controversy have the opposite effect, inadvertently pulling Ubisoft’s bacon out of the fire. We can even get further insights from Steam players, where GamesRadar+ has been faithfully criticizing these numbers (those have doubled since the initial report).

The peak of a weekday exceeds 44,000 concurrent players, meaning Shadow just repeatedly worked on Valhalla’s efforts (15,431), which will continue to be the best-selling piece in the series and just managed to outperform the fan favorite original (41,541).

Only the Odyssey (61,984) prevented Shadow from achieving the highest concurrent player count in the series ever, and we think Kassandra and Alexios would be best hit for Kanobo on the weekend. Oh, and at present, it has high scores of over 3,000 players. Perhaps Ubisoft’s threat of revenge against any unnecessary comments on the bomb movement scares the poorly competitive actors?
